First Day @ PlayGroup

On Monday, i took leave to accompany Reia for her first day of School. Since she's turned 18 months old, she has graduated from infant care to Tots class. A week before she advanced to Playgroup, in order to prep her for the changes, the infant caregiver would bring her down to the new class daily for 2 hours - to let her participate in their activities, get familiarize to her new classroom, her teachers & friends. I was really excited to see my lit girl wearing the oversized uniform.. and yes, that's the smallest size they have. I was even contemplating to change school due to the so-very-boring-and-not-pretty uniform. My ideal school uniform would be those pleated skirt or pinafold kind of dress. But fret not, hot mama will alter the skirt into a shorter & sexier version so that she could flaunt her skinny legs!!! fwahaha..

The teacher actually told me to feed Reia's milk before coming to school as their brunch will be around 10 and lunch is ard 11.30pm. So, it's best if we could feed her first so that she would not feel hungry. However, not too sure why, this girl refused to drink her milk that morning (prolly she had too much good food at No Signboard on Sunday).

Her normal morning routine - to greet the froggies and fishes.

When i reached the classroom, i told the teacher that she did not drink her milk, so they actually gave her conflakes with milk, but she was not interested. Im perplexed!

Lesson actually starts @ 9.30am, so those early birds will run ard, play with the toys. Starting, it was only 3 of them, then it started to get crowded. ANd most of them were quite new actually. One of the girls was crying kept shouting for jiu ma, And she would always carry her bag and walk to the door. Sometimes she would hold my hands and signal me to open the door for her. So pityful haiz.. Then came along an indian girl with her granny.. when her granny left, she cried until vomit. ANyways, all these aside, with me around, Reia will get very clingy and whiny. Throughout the morning, she kept saying outside outside. I had no choice but to carry her as she became crankier and crankier.

I managed to sneak out, but i din go home (unlike during her first day in infant care). i stayed outside, 默默地关注她。

As you can see from the photo, she was crying... At one point, the teacher actually brought her out and let her stand there and cry (i think they teacher was kind of fed-up). Immediately, i went to rescue my girl. I told the teacher she might be hungry and requested to feed her milk.

She was slightly calm after her milk. Straight after her milk, they got to eat their brunch which is Conflakes. Yes every child has one cup of conflakes with no milk no nothing.. just pure dried conflakes with their own water.
She began to enjoy herself after her stomach was satisfied.

Lunch Time!! Teacher wld scoope some rice, chicken, veggies & soup into a bowl for all the Tots and would just leave it in front of them. After that, the tot wld feed themselves!! haiz, my Reia only 18mths, luckily im there to take the bowl away from her before she got hold of it. If not, i think she wld spill all over herself. I looked ard at other tots, and were appalled how independent they were and they were only ard 2 yrs old. I looked at my lit girl, looking at how she tried to coordinate and put the food into her mouth. most of the times, the food spill before it reaches her mouth. 哎， 好可怜。what would happen to her tml without me?? 老师，你们要好好照顾她。

After all the mess, food were scattered all over the table and floor, all tots were led to the washroom to have their hands cleaned. By then, most of the parents had come to fetch their children. Which left only 4 of them. The 4s will carry their own bag with towel/diaper/clothes in it and proceed to the bathroom.

The procedures go like this:- All children in the school shared the same bathroom, however they staggered the bathing time so that the youngest one get to bath first. Outside the bathroom (which is the open area), they will line up some chair for each child so that they can put their bag. One of the teacher took care of Reia and another girl. They wld strip them both naked and lead them to the bathroom. While waiting outside, i could hear my girl screaming away... after both were finished, the teacher wld lead them out of the bathroom, and dress them one by one. If Reia is the 2nd one being dressed, she will be standing there naked and dripping wet. Luckily hot mama is there to dry her and get her dressed. What would happen to her tml without me? 哎， 好可怜.

After bathing, they will go back to their classroom (with air-con on) with their hair still pretty wet. Luckily one of the teacher went to take hair-dryer to dry up their hair. Once dried, its time for their nap time and milk time. That is when the teacher will lay the mattress on the floor for them to nap. However, my lit girl refused to sleep, so to end her misery, I decided to bring her home. I have observed enough. Reia is forced to grow-up overnight and has to face the adversity on her own.... 哎， 真的好可怜。

感想：It was heart wrenching. Her normal routine has been distubred and she has to adapt it all over again. It's cruel to leave her there, she is still a baby after all. She has only been in this world for 18 months for goodness sake!

Day 2

She spilled milo all over herself during the tea-break. Teacher said she kept walking ard and they had a hard-time making her to sit still. She also tore down the drawings that were put on the wall.

Day 3

She loves to eat so much that after she finished her bread, she would eat her friends' bread.

Day 4

Mom called me and said that Teacher complained abt Reia. She had bitten 3 children. ANd one of them even in front of the child's mom (the child first day of school) The child's mom brought her home after half-day thou she's suppose to be there for a full day)

Im so saddened by the news. What happened to my Reia? Why is she reacting this way? They must have agitated her, but according to the teacher, she just bite them for no apparent reason.

I kind of doubt my parenting skills. What actually went wrong?

I googled why toddlers bite?

"Toddlers need chances to express their frustrations, fears, and other upsets on a daily basis. They want to be close to Mommy and Daddy, but mommies and daddies have to work, shop, fix meals, talk on the phone, and take care of other children. Toddlers in childcare want to be treasured by their caregivers, but caregivers have many children to consider.
So tension builds, one little disappointment or lonely moment at a time. A day's ordinary events can easily leave a toddler feeling upset and alone, although nothing an adult would consider “difficult” has happened."

King's mama suggests i monitor her behaviour closely, whether she became crankier, or had nightmares. As far as I know, Ever since she's attended the playgroup, She has became really cranky during night (as early as 7pm). My gut was, she's really feeling tired as she only nap a lit throughout the day which is filled with so much activities. Physicall and mentally, she is stressed! Now, she sleeps as early as 9plus.

Will give her some time to adjust and adapt the new liftstyle. Shall re-assess then.

Pray for my lit' one. I believed she's gg thru a rough time now.
