3D2N 'Staycation' 1 - 3 June 2012

It all happened on the Sunday night 27/5 after her dinner @ gugu’s house.
All of a sudden, she was running a high fever, temperature measured then was already 39.5 – Soaring high.
Went back home, feed her Ibuprofen + sponging to bring down her body temperature. Throughout the night, I had to keep sponging and had to wake her up to have another syringe of paracetamol.
Not long after, diarrhea camea along, So I concluded, she had stomach flu, period.
Took leave to bring her to PD on Monday – it was not the usual Dr she always see, she was a stand in doc - prescribed lacteol fort (in sachet form) which I had to dilute with water.
She din really take that well, think she hate the powdery sustance feelings. Moreover, she lost her appetite, totally. No milk (not even soy-free), No food. She only could take her drink and some baby biscults.
This went on till Wednesday….No intake of food nor milk… she went on with empty stomachs for days..fever up and down… loose stools passing out constantly without fail

On Wednesday night, we decided to visit my Uncle’s clinic for 2nd opinions. Luckily, Reina stayed hydrated and still look 'active' even she’d not been eating. Uncle advised to just give her some glucose or ribena drink to boost her energy level.

Every night (after sleep), I needed to check her temperature and changed her soiled diaper for about 3 - 4 times. That’s the no. of times her diarrhea occurred. On Thursday morning while changing her… I found blood in her stools..
Double confirmed when I showed it to mom and Alvin. Asked my mom to monitor her and off I went to work with a heavy heart.
Through out the day, it did not stop. Blood can be seen mixing with the stools. Called my uncle, and he said monitor for a day. It could be the coloring of the glucose or ribena…

Last straw was on Friday morning.
This was definitely blood.
Pretty unsure what to do… thinking maybe took afternoon leave to bring her to hospital or doc.
On the way to office in the mrt, I sent the pix to my friends and sis. All remarks were the same, asked me to turn back and quickly bring her to hospital immediately.
Haiz, sometimes I deserved a kick in the butt – simply when it comes to such situation, I always lack of “urgenciness” and “seriousness” and often they had to suffer because of my "non-paranoid" attitude.
Anyways, Alvin detoured back too and off we sent her straight to KK A&E (which a lot of ppl commented that I wld have to wait for hrs). Luckily I kept the blood stained diaper and brough it as evidence to show the doctor. With that, I got an expressed Queue....straight away to Room 11. No waiting at all.

After hearing mama narrated the one week story and witnessed the bloody diaper – ‘She needs to be admitted!”

From the moment we arrived, registration, questioning from first liner nurses, Room 11 for preliminary check by the A&E doctor, to admission.. Vooom.. a mere 30-40mins.. *Impressive??!!*
Not a waiting moment.. all thanks to the bloody soiled diaper.
Admission was a breeze, Reina’s name was already in the system as she was covered by PruShield *thanks god for the shield plan* She was well-covered.
We could jolly choose private class A1. However, during then, only Class C is available which means no aircon, six-bedded, and no TV. They would have to put us in the waiting list.
(shld have gone to private hospital)
Soon after we were brought up to the ward 66 Bed 6 on 1st June *what a number*
A nurse began to orientate us ard - where’s the pantry, where to bathe etc etc.
Soon after, a male young doctor came and started to ask questions. "When it started, how many times her diarrhea occurred, what’s the highest temperature, when was her last intake of medication, How much she ate" etc etc.. Luckily mama knew the facts.
Uninteresting corridor; dull room decor; discolored curtains; depressing atmosphere
The most hysterical experience for Reina was to have her arse being ripped open by the Dr ‘s little finger and the drawing of blood which were both "bearable" to watch without me having to shed any tears with her.
The whole process, you could hear her cry out “pain…. Pain” “don’t want”. From this episode, she had clearly understood what’s the meaning of Real pain.

Her first hospital meal; daddy bought her a balloon to brighten up her day;
Finally, fallen asleep after being tortured

During evening time, we got to upgrade to Class B.
Ward 86 Bed 9

Vibrant Colors used; New and interesting curtains; Cozy warm room decors

I got myself admitted with her too.
My main role - to clear her shit!

Aunty CC bought her a get-well basket to cheer us up.

Getting Ready for bed; mama's uncomfortable bed; when she's in pain, she wld crunch her body

First night was alright besides the fact that nurses came in and out to feed medicines, had her temperature / blood pressure checked. Not stressing that the other patients had different timing in their medication. There's one kid that needed to be puffed every 2 hrs due to asthma attack so his machine always gave out a BEEEEEP sound. Therefore, throughout the night, i drifted in and out. Luckily Reina took her medicines well at night and fell asleep real quick! no Fuss! For her age, she's is marvelous. Not forgetting screaming could be heard in other wards too. Depressing place.

Is a whole new Day - time to freshen Up.
Stool still pretty loose, almost every hr or 2 she wld poo.. Blood stain had visibly reduced, but still there

Bom bom time by the mama not the nurse; Her breakfast which she took like 3 mouths?; Doc making her round.

Blood Test was Good.
Rota test was Negative.
Left with Culture test result!

*Third Day*
Culture result turned out Negative too. Yeah! She was able to discharge albeit feverish & on going diarrhea, Moreover, they were not going to conduct any more tests to find out what exactly have happened to her, what kind of bacterias was she's being attacked. It's Good to be able to go Home!

Looks who's here to welcome Reina's home??

Thanks to Ros yima for the bouquet of balloons.

So... in the end, What actually happened to lit' R?
We were dicharged with Question marks ??????
