Die... It's a Dead Tooth

After Shadi turned 3, Shadi's mama brought him to a pediatric dentist to have his teeth checked! After the check, she asked me to go count Reia's teeth - 10 Top & 10 Bottom, 20 in total. Immediately i asked reia to lie down and began counting... Checked! She has the correct no. of tooth - no less, no more. Shadi's mama further commented that there's colour grades for the tooth (cant rem how it was graded thou) .

Weeks ago or Months ago..I noticed Reia's right front tooth had some discoloration on it. Thinking, that particular tooth of hers must be in the lower colour grade or perhapes she din really brush her teeth probably.  However, disaster struck me hard when Shadi's mama saw Reia and immediately questioned me
" Yang, what happened to Reia's tooth?"
"I dunno, just became discolored"
"Did she fall down and hit her tooth? From the books i read,  i quite confirmed it's dead"
*晴天霹雳*
"You better go consult a dentist right away"
还好,有知识渊博的shadi's mama enlighten me. Else i'd still think it's not a big deal.

Immediately, i booked an appt with dental to have her tooth checked!

Actually, i had to coax her to sit on the chair... the Dr actually had to lift the chair up and down to let her "play" and feel amused by it. Anyways, i had to sit on that chair with her and have to kind of pin her down, open her mouth and let the Dr do a quick check.

The doc kind of diagnose that it's a dead tooth. Next, is to do a Xray to make sure there's no pus or any infection. Since she needs to do Xray, her daddy not with us, and i cant go in with her. Dr worried that she might not have a good shot of it, anyways, she said let's just try and hopefully she's able to co-operate.
To do the Xray, she needs to bite onto a black coloured card (roughly the side of the SD card), After she bited on it, i told her i need to go out and press the button so that i can take a photo of her tooth. I left her with the Dr and quickly made my way out. Luckily, they were able to take a shot of it.

Dr looked at the Xray and commented that no pus or any infection ard the area, so for now, is quite safe and we could leave it as it is but it could turn darker. THerefore, we need to frequenctly visit them and have xray done. I further questioned what happened if pus have developed. She said  basically what could be done is a "Baby Root Canal" and then put a tooth colored veneer over it. She would obviously have to be sedated for it. Really pray that it can remain like this until 6-7 yrs old and that tooth can drop off by itself, else manual extraction is inevitable.

Haiz...  the consequences of being an Active baby!
